Helping citizens understand the services available to them.
Strengthening Citizen Awareness and Access to Government Services
Upkriti NGO successfully implemented a large-scale E-Governance Awareness and Citizen Survey Programme in the T. Dasarahalli Zone of Bengaluru North, aimed at understanding citizens’ awareness of various Government of Karnataka schemes, welfare programmes, and public services
The programme was designed to bridge the information gap between citizens and government services by creating awareness at the household level and collecting structured information on citizens’ awareness, requirements, and access to government schemes and services.
The programme was led by *IAS Officer Dr. B. R. Mamatha*, providing strategic direction and guidance for the initiative.
The programme was formally inaugurated by *Former Education Minister Shri B. C. Nagesh*, marking the commencement of the extensive citizen awareness and survey activities.
More than *2,000 volunteers* participated in the programme over a period of *one month*. Volunteers carried out door-to-door awareness activities and interacted directly with citizens across the T. Dasarahalli Zone.
Through these interactions, citizens were informed about relevant government schemes, services, eligibility requirements, and the importance of accessing public services within the appropriate timelines.
80,000+ Households Surveyed
As part of the initiative, *more than 80,000 households were surveyed within one month. The information collected during the survey was systematically recorded and submitted to the **National Informatics Centre (NIC)* as part of the programme's data-recording process.
The extensive household-level engagement helped create a better understanding of citizens’ awareness and requirements relating to government schemes and services.
Creating Better Access to Government Services
The programme focused on helping citizens become more informed about the services available to them and supporting improved access to government programmes.
The data and insights generated through the survey can support better understanding of community needs, facilitate timely access to relevant services, and contribute to awareness of new government services and initiatives as they are introduced.
Through this initiative, Upkriti NGO demonstrated its ability to mobilize large volunteer networks and implement extensive community-based programmes at scale.
The programme reflects Upkriti NGO’s commitment to citizen engagement, public awareness, community development, and technology-enabled governance, while working collaboratively with government stakeholders and communities.
Upkriti NGO continues to work towards creating informed communities and strengthening the connection between citizens and essential public services
